Such things of the third-world, must remain third-world like

Seldom do I go to the mall. Any mall. ‘tis because, I think, especially in India and other third world countries, the mall is unfair to that middle-class gentlemen, the one who’s family have been running that small stand-alone shop down the alley since the past eighty-five years. The establishment is taking over. Soon, all of India’ll be owned by three or four all-muscle, unethical, eco-unfriendly corporate institutions, leaving the middle-class, unemployed, a slave to the establishment.

This is a three hundred odd square feet shop that sells software, downtown Bombay:

“It will cost you fifteen hundred rupees i.e. US$ 30 for the entire Adobe collection. I can give you the original Norton Antivirus for two thousand five hundred rupees i.e. US$ 50, you will need to buy the original DVD as you’ll need to register it online, you cannot pirate it, and Microsoft Office, another thousand rupees i.e. US$ 20!” i.e. US$ 50 for the Adobe disc+MS Office, additional US$ 50 for the original Norton Antivirus disc.

Compensate some of your vacation expenses by selling your travel photos

JaigadI shoot a large number of photographs whilst on assignment. 7-10 photos make the story (ie. on an average, 2%-5% of the total number of photos shot for a single story), the rest, go onto my traditional stock photo agency (say another 30% of the photos). The remaining, 60% of photos tend to be neglected simply because they do not compare to the others. They might be duplicates or in series, of lesser aesthetics, incomplete editorial content etc. I have always shot with an SLR camera, be it film, TP or digital (DSLR). My DSLR cameras have been at least 6 megapixels.

Microstock is a booming business. The time is right to take advantage and earn additional income, even if you are not a professional photographer or do not own an SLR camera!

Travels through Kanyakumari and how travel photographers can make money on the internet

2003, January. I backpacked through the south of India. During my travels, I emailed my friends every now and then, updating them about my adventures. Copies of those messages sit in the ‘sent messages folder’ of my Yahoo! Mail account. Gmail didn’t exist then. I glanced through some of them today. I find them funny now. Back then, I wrote differently. I had different priorities. No digital cameras. This is the second email I wrote to my friends during my travels, at Kanyakumari. Read on:
